Consultation - Future Directions for the NRSCH

Have your say - Shaping the direction of community housing regulation

We invite you to share your perspectives on the future direction of the National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH). This consultation provides an opportunity to reflect on how the system is working now and to consider how it can continue to support a strong, responsive, and effective community housing sector into the future.

The NRSCH has established a solid foundation for regulation across participating states and territories. As the housing environment, government priorities, and the community housing sector continue to evolve, it is timely to consider how the regulatory system can adapt to meet emerging challenges and opportunities, while continuing to support the people and communities it serves.

This discussion paper does not propose a preferred model or predetermined reform pathway. Instead, it is intended to support open consultation and the sharing of views on what a modern, fit‑for‑purpose regulatory system could look like now and into the future. It explores how the system may operate in practice and the roles of different stakeholders within it, and invites stakeholders to consider which elements are most important for a future‑ready regulatory environment.
